One Stage only for both Competitive and Non Competitive groups.
1A.1 All contestants are to be full time students at their respective Secondary School. This can include Exchange Students (evidence required)
1A.2 Adult Students are not eligible to participate.
1A.3 Only one entry per school, per section, is permitted.
1A.4 All groups are restricted to:
A specific performing time.
A maximum number of contestants per group.
A maximum number of support

2. Any group that exceeds its performing time slot, will incur penalty points, which will be deducted from each individual item used for competitive points. Non Competitive groups will be asked to leave the stage.
00.15 seconds = 5% 16.30 seconds = 10%
31.45 seconds = 15% 46 Seconds – 1min = 20%
Over 1 minute = Total disqualification.
3. Awards that are not included in the aggregate points will not be affected.
4. Only official Timekeeper will be used.
5. In any time dispute, there will be an independent referee, the referee’s decision will be final.
6. Timing will begin from the first sound of an instrument or a voice from either the performing group or a voice from the audience.
7. A group who breaks the rules will be disqualified.
8. In any dispute, the Disputes Committee only will decide. This Committee will consist of the Festival Chairman and the Festival Co-ordinator.
9. Non Competitive Groups
a) All contestants are to be full time Students at their respective Secondary Schools. This may include Exchange Students (evidence required).
b) Performance time must not exceed 20 minutes or be less than 10 minutes.
10. Both Competitive and Non Competitive Teams will perform items belonging to their Category. e.g.

11. In the event of an equal placing the winner will be determined by scores in the Mita O Te Reo, then the Waiata Koroua, then the Waiata-a-Ringa (In that order).
