Renovations
Our
kohanga has been running for 18 years we were one of the first Kohanga to open
in the country.
Back
then we took what we could get (our building) or were given (that old lounge
suite) which wasn’t much. Most of
our stuff was second hand and the Maori learning resources we had were made by
parents (the books on top of the cupboard) those were good old days when parents
spent weekends together making resources and getting to know each other.
It
was fun!!
Anyways,
times have changed. We don’t need to have second hand stuff and Maori
resources are plentiful (more then what we had back then).
And
although we can get money to pay someone to paint our Kohanga or clean up the
property, I think it’s more fun for parents to do it ourselves (from time to
time). How else are we going to get to know one another? And if you can’t make
it that’s cool, maybe there are other ways you can contribute.
